    Ludes and the Domaine
    Ployez-Jacquemart

    The guardian of unique know-how

    Domaine Ployez-Jacquemart

It wasn’t until 1947 that the founding couple of Maison Ployez-Jacquemart were able to set up their business in the house we know today at 8 rue Astoin in Ludes. When the couple moved in, the house had already been for sale for several years, but no buyer could be found because it had fallen into disrepair following the war. Thanks to Marcel’s initial expertise as an architect, the house was rebuilt and restored, enabling the farm and its surrounding vineyards to be stabilised.

    Ludes and the

    Ployez-Jacquemart terroirs

Ployez-Jacquemart is a family estate founded in Ludes, a Premier Cru village in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, by Marcel Ployez and his wife, Yvonne Jacquemart, two audacious personalities with a passion for wine.

Ployez-Jacquemart cultivates its own vineyards on the terroirs of Ludes, Ville-Dommange, Mailly Champagne and Vertus, which are Premiers and Grands Crus. Ployez-Jacquemart makes its wines using the 3 grape varieties that are emblematic of the region: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. The care taken in working the vines and the quest for quality can go as far as green harvesting if necessary to improve the quality of the harvest. In addition, the Ployez-Jacquemart vineyard is certified HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne).

    Ludes and Ville-Dommange

Ludes lies on a hillside, with the Montagne de Reims forest to the south. Ville-Dommange has also beautiful slopes. These two terroirs are both ideal for Pinot Noir, the grape variety that makes up a large proportion of the blends in the Ployez range. Ployez-Jacquemart also owns plots of Chardonnay in Ludes.

Ludes and the vineyard plot AB 390

This plot, isolated from the rest of the Ployez-Jacquemart vineyard, is located just behind the family home and offers a special and unique character to the grapes that grow there. It was named after the cadastral inscription of the parcel of vines. This terroir is planted with the Meunier grape variety, a black grape that is emblematic of the Montagne de Reims region. It is a grape variety that is resistant to winter frosts and thrives in moist, clayey soils, a grape variety that is a pleasure to work with. The House is well aware of this grape variety and has devoted an entire cuvée parcel to it: AB390 Vintage 2016 100% Meunier.

    Vertus

A terroir where Chardonnay is king, this grape variety is essential to the winemaking process for the Ployez-Jacquemart cuvées, as it ensures that the blends in the range are always well-balanced and fresh.
